Meet the Teachers Behind “L Squared”
We (Scott Lund and Jody Levy) are both kindergarten teachers at Woodland Elementary.
Scott has been teaching for more than 30 years! Before that, he did a little bit of everything from working as a Fountain Boy at Bridgeman’s to being a Fire Fighter / EMT. His wife, Jane, works from home raising their girls and caring for a couple of teachers' children. Scott and Jane have 7 children. Michael, Mallory, Morgan, Claire and Meghan are living and working in Minnesota, and Amelia is currently attending college, and Joanna is a freshman at Champlin Park High School this year. Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, working on construction projects, fishing, and relaxing at his cabin.
Jody has been working with children since she was 12 years old! This is her 25th year with District 279. She has two sons, Charlie and Louie, who attend Dayton Elementary as fifth and second graders. Jody enjoys spending time with her sons and friends, reading, sewing, fishing and riding her bike. She has taught preschool, kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade so far, and she has tutored children ranging in ages from 4 to 17 years old. She loves her job and is so happy to be able to spend her days with children!
This is our TWENTIETH year team teaching in a “double-wide” classroom, and we are looking forward to a great year with our students!
You can contact us any time with an email to [email protected] and/or [email protected].

Why Do We Have a Double Class?
Our goal is to combine our two classrooms for a full-day, team-teaching experience. Team teaching provides a variety of benefits to our students, such as:
*Team Collaboration: Through teaming, we are able to bring two different perspectives to lesson planning and delivery. For example, there are many times during the delivery of our lessons that one of us is able to rephrase or redesign a lesson or key point, allowing for greater student understanding.
*Differentiation of Lessons: Because we are two licensed teachers who are with the children all day, not only do we both get to know the children really well but the kids have many more opportunities to receive instruction that more closely matches their educational needs. As one of us leads the whole group lesson, the other teacher can take a small group of kids who either require extra help or enrichment, and the kids are taught a lesson with a similar objective that better meets their needs.
*Teaching Style: With our growing understanding of the Multiple Intelligences, we can see that there are different types of learners, who benefit from different methods of instruction. Our different styles and strengths allow for us reach more of the students and make each learning experience valuable in a number of ways to each child.
*Social Opportunities: By combining our two classrooms, the students will have a greater variety of peers with whom to form friendships.
*Immediate Individual Attention: Inevitably in teaching, situations arise that call for the teacher to attend to an individual student. During these times, (lost tooth, playground problems, etc.) one of us can be free to meet those needs to the fullest, while the other teacher can seamlessly continue the classroom instruction.
Like all classrooms at Woodland, we have high expectations for behavior and respect. We work hard to create an orderly climate of learning and fun experiences where the children know we care about them as individuals, and value their unique learning styles and personalities.
We want to thank you in advance for your support in this experience. It is our sincere goal to provide your child with the best educational experience possible. As in all decisions we make, we look first at what’s best for children and our professional decisions begin with this is mind.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
It is our pleasure to teach your children. We look forward to a fantastic year together!
