Now that we have your attention ;-) We want to make sure everyone knows that after conferences next week, the people who manage our Lost and Found plan to donate any unclaimed items to a charitable organization. If your child is missing ANYTHING, please swing by the Lost and Found to check for it by Wednesday, February 7th! Below are some photos of the items currently in our Lost and Found. Than you for your help!

CONFERENCE SIGN-UP
(A note from Mrs. Beckler) It is time to schedule your student’s Parent/Teacher Conference. We will once again be using online conference scheduling. Conferences will be held in your child’s classroom. January 30 - February 1 - February 7 8:00-9:00 AM & 4:30-7:30 PM At this time, you will schedule a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher only. If you require time with another teacher, please contact them directly. To choose a time slot, enter this link into your internet browser: http://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Woodland_Elementary_School At the link, you will be asked to register your e-mail address. If you are already registered you do not need to do so again, just type in your password. After completing that task, you will immediately receive an e-mail with a link to schedule your conference. Once you select your conference time you will be sent an email confirmation and also an e-mail reminder 2 days prior to the conference. If you need to change a conference time, simply log back in and you will be given directions on how to choose a new time from the available slots. If you do not have internet access, please call Woodland Elementary at 763-315-6400. If you need an interpreter, contact our office directly or through the Direct Interpreter Access Line.
Toni Beckler Principal It has been a great week in kindergarten! We have been working on analyzing story elements (identifying characters, setting, problem and solution in a story), writing about our opinions, looking for patterns in numbers and creating 5 and 10 groups, and we even started our new science unit, "Wood and Paper"! We watched the fifth graders' musical performance on Thursday, and on Friday, we started a fun art project focused on lines, we had buddy reading time with our third grade buddy class, and we stuffed pillows that will be donated to the Gillette Children's Hospital. Next week, we have a PTO meeting on Tuesday, January 16th. The meeting will be held in the media center at 7:00 PM, and the focus is our PBIS framework and restorative practices at Woodland. Friday, January 19th, is Career Day at Woodland-kids can dress up to show what career they would like when they grow up! The evening of the 19th, Woodland's PTO is hosting a movie night in the cafeteria, starting at 6:30 PM. They are showing Cars 3, and will provide popcorn and drinks. This is a free event, and a great chance to get to know other Woodland families! Everyone is encouraged to bring blankets, pillows and/or sleeping bags to sit or lay on. We hope you can make it! Happy New Year, Everyone! We were so happy to see our students again today after the winter break! After sharing a bit about our time away from each other, we got right back into our routine with a new reading and math unit! In reading, we will be learning to summarize and synthesize information from a story as well as identify the parts of a story (characters, setting, problem and solution). We are working on the letter Hh in phonics, and learned a fun Hula Hoop game, too!
A few reminders: December reading calendars (with a minimum of 300 minutes) need to be in by Friday to be part of the reading calendar reward. No Word Bird homework this week, but reading homework came home today and math will go home tomorrow. Woodland PTO's Movie Night is scheduled for the evening of Friday, January 19, and they will be showing Cars 3. Bring something to sit on/snuggle with, and many kids choose to come in their pajamas! Library Day is always on Wednesdays. We are working on the kids being responsible for bringing their books back each week in order to exchange them for new ones. |
