Hi Everyone!
This short week has been packed with learning! We are working hard on our studies of the letters M and A. We have also gotten even better at working independently as we work on building stamina (so we can meet with small groups for more targeted instruction). TOMORROW we will celebrate Unity Day! We have been talking about how to show empathy, be kind and be an upstander. To show we are united as a building to stand up against bullying, we ask that everyone wear orange to school tomorrow (if they can). Here is the link to our peek at next week! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Wcqq_i-VzCufs2vZM8u3j3UbW0P53sQ1tMpEr7nd4nE/edit?usp=sharing Also...don't forget that tonight is the Woodland Family Dinner community event at Chick-Fil-A in Brooklyn Park! Mr. Lund has agreed to arm wrestle the Chick-Fil-A cow at 6:00 PM...it should be memorable! (A percentage of the proceeds from food purchased this evening will go back to our Woodland PTO. Dear Families,
A few of you mentioned at conferences that you had not been receiving the Peachjar weekly communication emails from our building. We added a link to sign up, but it appears as though the link was ineffective-sorry about that! In searching for a solution, we learned from office staff that the email is automatically sent to the emails that are on file from district paperwork. If you are not receiving them, you can start by checking your spam or junk mail folders to ensure that they weren't just going to the wrong location. If you do not have any Peachjar emails in those places, you can check with Ms. Classey, our building secretary, to make sure the email address we have on file for you has been entered correctly. Her email address is [email protected]. Hi Everyone! We shave spent the first few weeks of school learning about routines and expectations in our classroom. We have been easing the kids into more structured instruction, and began working on our reading curriculum! We will focus on one letter a week in phonics (among many other reading skills!), and every 3 weeks, we will focus on a new reading strategy and learning target. Here are our first learning targets for Language Arts:
· I can identify the main idea. · I can identify details. · I can ask questions about a story. Click HERE for a link to next week's "Peek"! Our Fun Run was a huge success, and students and families had a BLAST! We raised a record-breaking amount of money for our school (over $30,000.00), and the LSquared classrooms had the highest earning student (Clark) AND highest earning classroom (the Lund kids)!
This afternoon, we will celebrate all of the kids who collected 100$ and over with the Run of Champions (all who did not earn 100$ or more will line the halls to cheer our classmates on), and we will all meet outside the building to watch as kids SOAK the Principal! We are sure your children will have LOTS to tell you about when they get home from school! Have a great weekend! Click HERE for the link to next week's "Peek"! We had an amazing week, and an AWESOME Fun Run! Many kids let us know it was THE BEST DAY EVER, and we are so grateful to our PE teachers and our PTO for such a great event!
Remember, there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 4th. Click HERE for our Peek at Next Week. |
