Hi Everyone!
We apologize for the lack of posts lately. We are having trouble with the mobile version of the site, and appreciate your understanding. Hopefully you saw your child's sticker reminder about the Woodland Community Dinner at Roasted Pear this evening-our community dinners have been a great success, and have even brought a nice sum of money back to Woodland! If you have some extra time tomorrow morning, (Thursday), please stop in for some waffles (in the cafeteria from 8:30-9:15 AM) and/or attend the All-School Sing-Along (in the gym at 10:00 AM). Both events are general seating. Many families like to sit at tables together in the cafeteria as they eat their waffles and visit. When we attend the Sing-Along, chairs are set up for parents/guests in the back of the gym and all of the children sit with their classes. Enjoy the winter break!

Dear Parents,
Thank you so much for your help supporting our homework routines! Unfortunately, the school copier has been down this week, and we were unable to get the reading homework copied and assembled for today. As a result, THERE IS NO READING HOMEWORK TONIGHT! If you are looking for something to fill in the extra time this evening, you could have your child visit Moby Max and work on math, reading or spelling skills. :-) Although there is no reading homework this evening, we WILL be able to send the math homework tomorrow as scheduled. ;-) Have a great evening-stay warm! Your child's first Kindergarten report card is coming home today. Inside the envelope, you'll find the report card, a letter explaining our grading and a note to parents. After reviewing your child's report card, please sign the report card envelope and return it (empty) in your child's Take Home Folder. Thank you for your support!
Dear Parents / Guardians,
Our Kindergarteners are working on a program called MobyMax. MobyMax subscriptions have been purchased with Woodland building funds to provide additional academic opportunities for our students at home. The program develops a unique program built for each individual child. For this reason, it is very important that others do not do the work for the learner. However, you may show them similar problems as examples to work through and then they can apply the skill to the program’s presented problem. If your child gets a problem wrong, the MobyMax program will adjust the difficulty of the problems and reteach if necessary. If problems prove too easy, please encourage your child to work through them and know that the problems will increase in difficulty. MobyMax is compatible with any device that has internet access. A few of the programs may be difficult to use on some tablets due to screen size. MobyMax runs best on Chrome. We have found that sound often doesn’t work when using Explorer. Today or tomorrow, your child will come home with a note with website, username and password information. If you do not have internet access at home, please send us a note and we will provide some time at school for your child to work on Moby. Our expectation is that the children spend at least 40 minutes on Moby each week. The ideal session length is 20 minutes. We want the kids to spend the majority of their time focused on the following Moby activities: Math, Fact Master, Numbers and Alphabet, Phonics Sounds and Phonics Blending (please feel free to also explore any other tabs with your child). A button link to MobyMax can be found on our kindergarten website www.kcrew.weebly.com as well as our class web page: www.lsquared.weebly.com. Thank you for partnering with us! Your Kindergarten Team Last week, we ended the first trimester with an Eagle Celebration in the gym. While we were there, we learned more about how to join the Fuel Up to Play 60 Team. Information went home in last week's Wednesday mail, and you can access the Fuel Up information HERE (scroll to the last 2 pages of mail items, please). After the assembly, the kindergarteners chose between choice time, a dance party, a video, art time or a team game to participate in. It was a lot of fun! Dear Kindergarten Families,
It’s time to add to our Kindergarten homework! This sheet is to inform you about our homework and weekly expectations. We are working with your children to help them become responsible for their own work, but as kindergarteners, they will still need your help (and signatures!) from time to time as they grow and become more self-sufficient. Mondays: Word Bird Word Homework (the strip of words in the envelope) DUE FRIDAY-1 date & initial per week required Tuesdays: Math Homework (on blue paper) DUE WEDNESDAY Wednesdays: Reading Comprehension Homework (read the story with your child and answer questions) DUE THURSDAY—signature required Thursdays: Math Homework (on blue paper) DUE FRIDAY Other Important Information: Reading Calendars are due at the end of each month-the calendar must be signed, and the child must read for at least 300 minutes to be eligible for the reward. Thank you all so much for your help and support! The Kindergarten Teachers |
