Wow! It is hard to believe this is our last week of school with the kids before 2011! With the end of the year comes the end of our reading, math and science units. This week, we will assess the children in math and reading before moving on to our next units in January. Over the last week (and during this week), we are taking a break from Team Time. As a grade level, we decided that as everything around us moves faster and faster as we near the break, we wanted to slow things down a bit. So, we are using the extra time to learn about some different holidays and make fun projects and crafts. There is no spelling test scheduled for this week. We will send the list for the January 6th test home on Tuesday, so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle on Wednesday. Wednesday will be an extra fun day at Woodland! The excitement begins at 8:30 AM with our Waffle Breakfast. This is a biannual event at Woodland. We host a Waffle Breakfast right before the winter break, and again around Mother's Day. It is a fun, social event with the added bonus of tasty waffles! Information about the breakfast went home in the Wednesday mail and is linked both on our blog and the school webpage. The next event of the day will be our All-School Sing-Along at 10:00 AM. Everyone is invited to join us in the gym, where we will sing songs together to further get us in the holiday spirit. There will be a little down time between the Waffle Breakfast and the sing-along, so you may want to make plans with some other parents to make a coffee run! We will end our day with a grade level Winter Party at 2:45 PM. The set-up will be similar to our Halloween party, and it promises to be lots of fun! If you did not sign up to help in the fall, but are interested in volunteering for our party, please contact us and we will be happy to put you to work! To wrap up this post, we would like to bring a smile to your faces and share some heartwarming pictures of your children. Enjoy!
