We had a few extra days with our reading anthology story, The Enormous Turnip, thanks to a short week. The kids thought it would be fun to turn the story into a play, and it WAS! We had three groups perform, and we also had a large group in charge of set design. The kids did a great job!

We have had a VERY busy week, and we know many of the children celebrated Halloween last Thursday. We offered some extra credit work to anyone who was interested. After collecting candy, the children were asked to sort their candy on the floor or a table according to whatever attributes they like, and make it into a life-size graph (no graph paper needed). After the sorting, please take a picture of your child with his or her graph and send it in to school when you have completed the activity (e-mail is easiest, because we can upload the photos). If your child did not collect candy on Halloween, or if you did not get the information in time, you can have him or her sort something else in the house (buttons, socks, cans of soup...) and take a photograph of his or her work. Graphing is a skill the kids will work on throughout their academic careers, and oppurtunities to make and talk about graphs will enhance their learning both at home and at school. Thanks for your help! |
