We have begun a new science unit! While learning about balance, the kids will discover numerous ways to balance 2-dimensional shapes, explore the concepts of balance, counterbalance, counterweight and stability, and communicate their observations and comparisons of balanced objects, using precise vocabulary. For our first investigation, the kids tried to see how many different ways a tag board shape can be balanced. It was lots of fun! During our study of contractions, we earned a new song to help build our understanding of how contractions are made. The kids sang so beautifully, we were inspired to make a video! The kids helped plan the video by writing us notes full of ideas for locations and props. Mrs. Burk lent us her music room, and Mrs. Brown helped us load the video so we could link it to our website. Thank you all, and please click HERE to watch our video!
We have been working hard studying contractions our first week back from Spring Break. In addition to learning The Contraction Song, the kids all had a chance to be SURGEONS, operating on patients like Mr. Hasnot, Ms. Couldhave, and little Iam. The surgeons had to assess their patients' status, and determine if they needed to surgically remove any parts (letters)! |
