On Wednesday, we not only completed a community service project with our fourth grade buddies in Mrs. Harvey's class, but we also made our own turkeys to carve at Thanksgiving dinner! (We even managed to squeeze in a writing assessment, music and other activities!) Each year, just before Thanksgiving, all the students at Woodland participate in making blankets or pillows that we donate to the young patients at Gillette Children's Hospital. Look for photos of this community service project in our photo gallery later this weekend. Happy Thanksgiving!
Today, the kids all brought in something to add to our pot of Friendship Soup. Every ingredient that came in was added to the crock pots, and the soup was finally ready to eat at the end of the day. It was DELICIOUS! Thank you to everyone for contributing to our special soup! Please check out our photo gallery for more pictures of the kids enjoying their soup. :-) Photo order forms willcome home on Monday-please be sure to either order online or send in your order form Tuesday morning. We are scheduled to have our photos taken before lunch and recess. Tuesday is also a music day for our class (not physical education), so it appears as though the stars are aligning for some very nice photos! If you wish to order online, you can go to mylifetouch.com. Our picture day ID is: MI212371YO. Visit
mylifetouch.com to order today! PICTURE DAY ID: MI212371Y0 On Friday afternoon, all the scond graders who read 400 minutes or more during the month of October earned a reading calendar reward. We brought all the kids into the cafeteria to play Bingo! It was a lot of fun, and it was excellent practice for Woodland's Turkey Bingo, which is coming up on Friday, November 16th! Please make sure to encourage your children to read at least 15 minutes each evening, and record it on the yellow reading calendars we send home each month. Speaking of Turkey Bingo, the event is paired with a Silent Auction. Our class has signed up to donate two baskets to the Silent Auction. Our themes are "Minnesota Sports" and "Awesome Activities". Sadly, we have VERY little to put in our baskets at this time. Please consider picking something up when you are out and about, or sending in a donation that Mr. Lund and Mrs. Levy can take to Target to pick up some items to make our baskets more appealing to perspective buyers. Remember, 100% of the money earned from the Silent Auction goes directly to Woodland through our PTO. Thank you for your support! |
