It is hard to believe that we only have four days left with our kindergartners! Today we enjoyed a delightful picnic lunch with the kids, and have been sharing some favorite memories from the year. Next week, we will send home some data we have been collecting on letter names/sounds, sight words, blending, counting, number identification and shape identification. Celebrate the growth your kids have made this year-we are so proud of them! Report cards will be mailed home later in June. Here are some calendar events to be aware of for next week: Please note-we will be outside a LOT next week. Please consider applying sunscreen to your child's exposed skin in the mornings, and if you want, send sunscreen to school for them to reapply in the afternoon. Monday-Wacky Hair Day Tuesday-Funky Sock Day, Woodland Family Dinner at the Blaine Chuck E. Cheese Wednesday-Super Hero Day, All-School BBQ (Families are invited, and we eat at 11:40. Bring a blanket to sit on, if you'd like!) Super Kids Day (This is like a Field Day, and we will participate in many activities from 2:00-3:30. If you can volunteer, please contact Amy Titus at 763-315-6400) Thursday- Beach Day (for Kindergarten) Details coming home soon! Our kindergartners were SO EXCITED to meet with the first grade teachers today! The teachers introduced themselves to our students, shared a little about themselves, then we all sang a song together. After the song, we split up and each class visited a REAL first grade classroom! Ask your child to tell you about the similarities and differences they noticed! We are very busy learning to read, practicing math and writing skills and more every day in kindergarten, but we also like to make time for a little FUN! We have been very lucky to have lots of guest readers lately, and we feel extra lucky to have lots of special teen volunteers who spend time with us after their school days to help with odd jobs in the classroom, read with kids and join us for choice time! Below are some pictures of guest readers and a few of the phenomenal volunteers who help us out! During our last weeks of school, we are inviting each student to read a book of their choice to the class. A note will come home with your child's reading day (if it hasn't already), and we will add pictures of your readers on this post as they have their special day. Way to go, Readers! We had AMAZING weather for our trip to the Minnesota Zoo today! We saw sharks, penguins, monkeys, tigers, jellyfish, flamingos and more! Thank you to ALL of our awesome volunteers-the kids had such fun with all of you! We will add photos as they come in-check back often! |
