We had a special visitor today to help us learn more about dental health. Mrs. Scott (Caelan's mom) spent time with us this afternoon sharing a story, showing some dental x-rays, discussing dental care and providing a special "treat" bag, compliments of her father (a dentist in Red Wing, MN)! Thank you so much!

Thanks to everyone who ordered books from our February book order! Because of our large order this month, we were able to get some awesome free books for our classroom library AND we even got a free book for each child in our room! Happy reading!
In addition to our Valentine's Day party, today is World Read Aloud Day! We spent time reading aloud with our fourth grade buddies from Mrs. Kral's room, we heard a Gerald and Piggie book read by Mrs. Beckler and Mrs. Metil, and we enjoyed visiting a fun website FULL of read-alouds! The site is: http://www.storylineonline.net/
Happy reading and listening! Today was our 100th day of kindergarten! We did a variety of fun activities, and had fun with an app that 'shows' what we will look like when we are 100 years old! Today was also National African American Parent Involvement Day, and we had the best participation in the ENTIRE school! Thank you to all the family members who visited and helped today. We hope you all will visit again! Our kindergarteners are gaining confidence in their reading skills with continued practice at school and home! We are so proud of them! We have told the kids that if they would like to read to the class, they can let us know and we will make time for them. We have already had a few volunteers, and will add pictures as new readers step up! Some second graders from Mrs. Pietsch and Mrs. Miller's class visited on Friday to read/perform a Readers Tgeater selection about John Henry. Our class was an excellent audience, and it was fun to hear the tall tale! Stella's mom visited after lunch on Friday and shared two fun stories with our class-Thank you, Mrs. Hoium!
Hi Everyone! We want to get everyone up to date on a few things, so here goes! *If you haven't already signed up for Parent-Teacher conferences, please call or go online soon and select the date and time that works best for you. *January reading calendars are due by Friday, February 3rd. *Our new Scholastic book order went home yesterday. You can order online (we have a Scholastic tab) or send a paper order in. ALL ORDERS ARE DUE BY FEBRUARY 10th. *We are updating our student flashcards, so your child may be bringing home some white envelopes with their old flashcards. Please check for mastery, and if they have mastered the information, feel free to recycle the papers or let your child keep them to play school. *Today is the start of Black History Month! Ella's Nana, Mrs. Ellis, helped us set up some amazing displays throughout the building-please check them out when you are here! Some of the children helped me kick off Black History Month on the school news broadcast this morning. They did an excellent job and their classmates were so proud of them! *Remember: African American Parent Involvement Day is Monday, February 13th. The link to sign up and volunteer is in a previous post as well as in our Wednesday Mail. ALL are invited and welcome to spend time with us-come and see your children in their school environment! :-) |
