As you may have noticed, we have started working on basic multiplication facts in second grade. Some of the kids are very ready for this (and more), and others are still finishing up their work with addition facts to help prepare them for multiplication. Today, we looked at addition and multiplication fact charts and discussed some methods for practicing facts. Some children asked if they could print the charts at home, so we said we would create a link here for anyone who is interested.
As always, thank you for your support and helping your children meet and exceed all their learning targets! Addition Fact Chart Multiplication Fact Chart

Last week, our phonics work focused on contractions. We sang a fun song about contractions, broke contractions apart to identify the two original words, and took two words and combined then to make contractions. Our final assessment of our learning was to pretend to be surgeons. After identifying our two-word patients, the surgeons had to look for which letters should be carefully extracted, remove them, and stitch the patients back together with an apostrophe. The doctors did an excellent job! We had a blast at the Science Museum! Thanks to all of our parent volunteers for your help and photos!!! |
